LSIT offers Services accounts to Letters and Science faculty, staff and affiliates. An LSIT Services account allows the user access to LSIT Services: Email, File Sharing, and (after our Web Migration) Web Shares. With departmental approval, students and other affiliated persons may also be given accounts to access File and Web shares. Email service, as well as ownership of File and Web shares is reserved for Faculty and Staff only.
Users such as visiting scholars, lecturers, teaching associates, or teaching assistants that need an account for a specific period of time should provide an expiration date on their application so that we may close their account in a timely manner. We will send the department a list of accounts in June and January to verify active accounts.
Each account form must be signed by a departmental representative, usually the department Business Officer. By signing this form, the department is verifying that the account is an appropriate use of university resources, and should there be a problem, the department will be responsible for the user's actions.
If you have graduate or undergraduate students wanting email accounts, please direct them to Umail at Instructional Computing since they provide email service to students.
How to request an account:
1. Print a Services Account Request Form [pdf - requires Adobe Reader].
2. Fill in the necessary information and have it signed by the department Business Officer and the applicant.
3. Fax the form to x5019. If you have additional questions you can contact us by emailing or calling us at xHELP(x4357).
Note: The LSIT Services Account Request Form requests an account to access services only. To request the creation of a share or shares, please use the Share Request Form.
